Do you play club sports??if you do then I'm sure you enjoy it and train hard for games, tournaments etc. Also I'm sure you have had some knocks and bruises as most of us do. But what if it was more than knocks or bruises, what if it was ligament damage, or a broken bone? What would you do then?...... of course your chosen sport may have accident cover with their governing association but what does that cover?.... I have seen all too often the small print of these types of cover and terms like "only to supplement private accident cover" or "at the discretion of the association" or even " no legal obligation to pay". So what can this mean?..... it may mean that you could be left on your own to deal with the after effects of the injury without any financial support. Most sports club associations actively encourage members to seek out their own private accident insurance. Have you considered the implications of what may happen if you get injured? ........ short term will it affect your ability to work if you have ligament damage or broken bones? How will that affect you financially? Will you need prolonged treatment?...... There are many factors to consider, the main factor being ARE YOU ADEQUATELY COVERED FOR ANY EVENTUALITY?.

Are You a Pickler?! From Niche Sport to Major League Sensation. A few years ago, pickleball was a relatively obscure sport, known only to a select few. How times have changed! In the blink of an eye, pickleball has transformed from a hidden gem to a Major League sensation, thanks to Steve Kuhn founder of Major League Pickleball. It's not just your typical exercise enthusiasts who are diving headfirst into pickleball. Pickleball has become the playground for the rich and famous. Names like Tom Brady , LeBron James , and even entertainment extraordinaires like Dude Perfect have caught the pickleball bug. They're not just watching from the sidelines; they're getting in on the action and profiting while having fun! The Rising Costs of Insurance is a concern to some:With the pickleball craze sweeping the globe, there's one thing we should all keep in mind; insurance costs. As more people embrace this sport, the chances of injuries increase, as with any sport. Whether you're a seasoned pickleball pro or a newbie, safety should be a top priority. Here's a quick tip:Gear Up: Invest in proper equipment like protective eyewear and shoes.Clean up: I've recently played on a court and saw a guy with a leaf blower in tow cleaning up the court before his team played! While insurance costs may rise, staying safe and enjoying pickleball is well worth it. So, whether you're considering buying a team (there's still opportunity) or just joining in the craze, remember to gear up and have fun! The world of pickleball is waiting, and it's a game-changer.Have you joined in on the fun yet?#sports #insurance Jay Walden Baruch Abramoff Neil Zelman https://lnkd.in/eHuxFxrv

The debate over the umpires' decision to show a red card to Amit Rohidas of India in their Olympics hockey quarter-final against Great Britain and send him off the field, would rage for ages. Many fans are furious on social media, calling the umpiring biased. I would not suggest, umpiring was biased but the standard of umpiring was pathetic. They did not control the game well and the interpretation of rules left much to be desired.Saw some sort of similarity in the FIH Rules and an insurance policy wording. Lack of clarity & lending itself to be interpreted, in multiple ways. A huge element of subjectivity. Again, as in the case of an insurance policy, the FIH Rules have to be read in totality, which was not done in today's game. So, why was Amit Rohidas shown a red card and sent off the field? The reason cited -- Raising his stick against a British player. Though the umpires let it pass initially, on persistent review appeals by the British team, the case was referred to the video umpire and the final decision taken. The issues were two-fold --- 1) Did Amit Rohidas commit an offence? 2) If yes, did the offence merit a red card? Let's take a look at what the FIH Rules state - Rule 9.2 states as under:'Players on the field must hold their stick and not use it in a dangerous way. Players must not lift their stick over the head of other players'.Amit was running with the ball at a fast pace and when he lifted the stick, it stuck the bent head of the British player who was behind him. Did he lift the stick over the other player's head? Yes, but Amit does not have eyes at the back of his head. The FIH wording is open-ended. A player running with the ball, lifts the stick to hit the ball, and an opponent who is close behind him gets hit. Intentional dangerous play? Most certainly not. The umpires, as some insurers do, followed the deficient wording, without understanding the spirit behind it.Further,9.2 has to be read with Rule 2.3 (h) under 'Control' to decide if a red card was necessary. What does this rule say? " When a player intentionally misbehaves in a serious manner towards another player, umpire or other match official the red card must be shown immediately." All viewers on television would agree that no way was the action of Amit intentional misbehavior towards another player". The umpires did not read the two rules together ...... remember, an insurance policy should be looked at, as a whole.Poetic justice, that India with 10 players for the greater part of the match, won the shoot-out and the hearts of every Indian. Though it may sound unparliamentary, the British team was complaining all through the game and even the appeal for dangerous play against Amit appeared to be a strategy .... and so, to see some British players in tears after losing, was truly satisfying. That's not the end of it. India won, but the HI/IOA must lodge a protest against the erroneous decision on the red card to Amit Rohidas. Chak De India!

Have you ever treated a #physicaltherapy patient with a condition that responds positively to one type of movement and negatively to another? ...Think of spinal stenosis....Now think about that patient who says he has been walking and swimming as much as possible but every time he does his symptoms are worse....Then you try a flexion based program and he responds positively. ...We all know that it isn't the fact that walking and swimming are "bad" exercises. The patient just wasn't exercising in the best manner for his condition. ...Now apply that scenario to small practice owners who keep getting denials on insurance claims and feel like they are constantly battling with insurance companies for payment. ...It might just be that they are using the wrong codes or modifiers on the claim. ...The small provider situation is usually compounded when a person is hired to handle billing because the provider gets too busy and that person knows even less than the original provider. But the provider is too busy to adequately teach the new person what to do....#snowballeffect #physicaltherapybilling
